Lufkin School Shooting Threat Dismissed as HoaxLUFKIN — A mass shooting threat to all Lufkin schools has been dismissed as a hoax by the Lufkin Police Department. According to KETK, police say they have received almost 30 calls starting Thursday night and into this morning, threatening a mass shooting at Lufkin ISD on Friday, September 11th.

In a press release, the Lufkin Police Department said:

“Any threat of violence – especially involving the safety of our children – is taken extremely seriously and investigated swiftly. These statements appear to be nothing more than rumors circulating Facebook and Twitter regarding all area schools.”

Authorities said they will continue investigating the threats, but do not believe there is a safety concern at this time. As a precaution, patrol has been increased around Lufkin ISD school zones.
