Police: Student Confesses to Spring Hill VandalismLONGVIEW — Longview police and Spring Hill ISD have identified the student responsible for vandalizing the ticket booth and press box with graffiti at Panther Stadium in July. According to KETK and the Longview News-Journal, that’s the word from Superintendent Steven Snell. “We had a suspect during the summer, but there was a change in address that we were not aware of, so we were unable to locate him,” Snell said, “so when he came back to school on the first day, police came in and talked to him, and we got a full confession and took appropriate action from there.”

In July, video surveillance and tips indicated that one person was responsible for painting the graffiti, which contained crude language and images of a sexual nature, according to Snell. School Resource Officer Roger Askew said police cannot release the identity of the student because he is a juvenile. “He still has to go through the system even though we got a confession,” said Snell. “But as far as school punishment, like all students, the code of conduct kicks in and consequences are set appropriately.” Snell says the district spent $600 on materials to repair the damages, which is the amount the district will be seeking for restitution.
