More Bad News for Local Oilfield WorkersLONGVIEW — Bronco Oilfield Services will close its Longview facility and cut 52 employees about the end of October. According to KETK, state regulators said Tuesday that they were notified last week of the plans, which come as low crude oil prices continue to hammer the energy industry. In a letter dated Aug. 31, the company said it was closing its facility at 5175 Whitehurst Drive in Longview, one of four offices it has in Texas.

“As a result, we anticipate that we will permanently lay off a total of approximately 52 employees on or after Friday, Oct. 30,” the company said. It said it would offer severance benefits to those employees who are eligible and remain employed through the date of the closure.

Bronco, based in Elk City, Oklahoma, has other Texas operations in The Woodlands, Bryan and Corpus Christi. Outside Texas, it has locations in Colorado, Louisiana, Pennsylvania and Wyoming.
