Open House Today on Transportation Improvement Program UpdateTYLER — The Tyler Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is holding an open house today to update the public on the Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). The event is set for 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Tyler Development Center, 423 W. Ferguson St. in Tyler. The Tyler Area MPO is responsible for transportation planning within the Tyler Metropolitan Area, which includes Tyler, Hideaway, Lindale, New Chapel Hill, Noonday, Whitehouse and Bullard. The purpose of the TIP is to list the transportation improvements that are scheduled to be implemented during the 2015 through the 2018 fiscal years, according to a news release.

The updates include the construction of the Toll 49 extension dubbed the “Lindale Reliever Route,” the installation of ramps at the intersection of Toll 49 and State Highway 110, and the widening of Old Jacksonville Highway (FM 2493) from Gresham to Flint. The open house kicks off a 10-day comment period for the public to review and provide feedback on the draft update. Copies of the draft TIP will be available for review at the open house, and comment cards will be dispersed throughout the room for stakeholders to provide written feedback. Anyone wanting to review the plan, but unable to attend the open house can go to http://www.TylerAreaMPO.org to view the draft plan. Citizens may also comment on the program by contacting the MPO at [email protected] or by calling (903) 531-1175.
