Mack Eyes “Traditional Marriage Month” Proclamation

LONGVIEW — During his first month on the job, the new mayor of Longview has signed a number of proclamations. KETK reports the latest one to hit his desk is “Traditional Marriage Month.” This follows his LGBT Pride Month proclamation in May, which has caused a bit of a stir in the city. The “Traditional Marriage Month” proclamation is set for August. Mayor Mack says part of his job is to represent the entire community. But he does have one regret. Mack says, “I regret that we have seen a little bit of a division over these proclamations, and I hope to rectify that — I do because my whole goal is to unite the community, not divide the community, and I’ll do whatever it takes to unite this community.” The author of the proclamation, David Watts, says the latest proclamation is a Biblical and historical declaration. Watts says the goal is to champion the bedrock of civilization through the traditional marriage proclamation.
