Some Schools Remain Closed Following Storms

EAST TEXAS — Thursday was another day off for a number of East Texas students following damage from Monday’s storms. Jacksonville, New Summerfield, and Henderson all canceled classes Thurday. According to KETK, officials said Henderson ISD was closed due to unexpected difficulties with efforts to restore power at the middle school. ​School officials say they’re confident that all campuses will be open Friday. In New Summerfield, elementary students will be out the remainder of this school year. Secondary students, because of final exams, will be updated on a day to day basis. Carlisle had a two hour delay on starting classes Thursday. Troup schools had an early release.
