Apparent KKK Recruiting Flyers Turn Up in Edgewood

Posted/updated on: May 22, 2015 at 1:56 pm

thEDGEWOOD — Many people in Edgewood, in Van Zandt County, find what appear to be recruiting flyers in front of their homes. But the drive doesn’t seem to be having the intended effect. The flyers are sealed in plastic bags along with rocks, and tossed into yards and driveways. Kathy Baker says she’s glad she found one before her eight-year-old son saw the message. Baker says, “This mentality just disgusts me.” The flyers appear to be recruiting messages for the Ku Klux Klan and direct people to a website and a Quinlan post office box. Baker adds, “Some people think that when you live in a small town, that it means that you’re small-minded — and that’s not true.” Similar flyers appeared in the area about this time last year.
