Fugitive Wanted in Cousin’s Murder Arrested

LONGVIEW — A Mexican man wanted for the 2008 murder of his cousin in Longview has been arrested in Laredo. According to the Longview Police Department, Ramon Berumen-Campa, 28, of Mexico, was arrested in a immigration sweep by United States Border Patrol Agents. According to KETK, on June 29, 2008, Berumen-Campa shot and killed Eduardo Quezada, 25, at Quezada’s home in the 700 block of Travis Street before burning the house down.
Berumen-Campa was also arrested in October 2013 for reportedly shooting a man during an argument in Durango, Mexico. Berumen-Campa’s immigration case is pending with the Border Patrol’s prosecutions office in Laredo, and officials did not say when or whether he would be extradited to Longview.
