TYLER — The city of Tyler has announced a new financial data platform that provides residents and city officials unprecedented access to the city’s budget information, according to a news release. The powerful visualization software transforms volumes of raw data into actionable insight and information, enabling better analysis and understanding of the city’s budget, according to officials.
The platform displays several years of government revenue and spending detail in a user-friendly portal accessed through the city of Tyler’s website, according to the news release. Users can drill down into the current year budget and compare to previous years through interactive graphs that easily explain revenue and expenses by fund, department, and type, according to city staffers. The current year report provides insight into spending and revenues year-to-date. With the transactions feature, users can view, filter, and analyze expenditure transactions for multiple years. Officials say the data can be quickly searched and filtered according to specific detail such as vendor name, date description, and even dollar amount.
“Transparency in government is a priority of the City of Tyler,†said City Manager Ed Broussard. “This is just one more tool we have launched to ensure our citizens have access to public information.†To access the new tool, go to http://www.CityofTyler.org and click the red “Open Data†tab.
