Husband, Wife Admit to Robbing Graves

VAN ZANDT COUNTY — An East Texas couple confesses to stealing from graves. Van Zandt County Constable Pat Jordan says Ruby Brown and her husband, Jackie, were caught stealing brass plaques from grave sites and selling them at scrapyards. Jordan says he knows people come upon hard times, but that they just can’t resort to stealing, especially “from cemeteries and so forth — there’s no excuse for that.” He says the two were using the money to buy drugs. They’ll face four years’ probation.
