Tyler Firefighters Respond to House Blaze

TYLER — Moderate fire damage and minor smoke damage were sustained in a Tyler house fire. The Tyler Fire Department was dispatched to 1716 E. Gentry after the initial call was received shortly before 5:30 Monday afternoon. The first arriving units reported active fire in the residence and immediately sounded a second alarm. Five engines and one ladder company, along with a district chief, responded to the scene.

Firefighters successfully contained the fire to the room of origin, taking approximately 30 minutes to gain control of the fire. The moderate fire damage was limited to the room of origin, while the rest of the home sustained the minor smoke damage. All units were cleared from the scene around 6:40 p.m. The home was occupied at the time of the fire, but no injuries were reported. Firefighters believe the fire was unintentional and originated in a bedroom area where a child was working on a craft project.
