Tyler Child Struck by Vehicle, Driver Arrested

ems-ambulanceTYLER — A car/pedestrian accident in Tyler has left a child injured. It happened around 4:30 yesterday afternoon at the intersection of South Lyons and Jackson Street. A 12-year-old boy was injured when hit by a car as he stepped off the curb. A witness said that they too had almost struck the juvenile. They added that the boy had ear buds in his ears and appeared to be unaware of his surroundings.

The boy was transported to East Texas Medical Center for what appeared to be minor non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the vehicle, Kiara Shaniece Henry, 22, Tyler, was found not to be at fault for the accident but was arrested for outstanding arrest warrants out of Tyler Municipal Court. Additionally, Henry was issued a citation for fail to maintain financial responsibility. Her vehicle was towed for no insurance.
