Posted/updated on: March 23, 2015 at 11:06 am

thumb_tyler-city-hall-1TYLER — In an ongoing effort to enhance government transparency and citizen involvement, the City of Tyler has launched a new online tool, according to a city news release. Tyler Speaks is an online forum for civic engagement that can be accessed via several avenues, including:

– The Quick Links section on the right side of the City’s website homepage at http://www.CityofTyler.org

– Directly through the Tyler Speaks website at http://www.TylerSpeaks.com

– the widget on the City’s Facebook page

This new tool is one of the many avenues the city utilizes to communicate with citizens and enhance transparency, according to the news release. Users may post suggestions, read or interact with what others are saying about important Tyler topics, or vote on ideas. Comments or suggestions will be read by city officials and considered during decision processes, according to the release. Officials ask you to note that though not all suggestions can or will be implemented, each submission will be read and discussed. “Tyler Speaks is just one more way that residents can share their opinions with the City,” said City Manager Ed Broussard. “The questions we will be posting on this part of our website will eventually help form policy decisions.”

City officials say this software is part of a three-phased plan to incorporate new technology to enhance transparency. They say the other programs that will be added soon include $ Tyler Finances for financial information and IBM-BI for business analytics.
