Puppies Beheaded in Van Zandt Co., Reward Offered

CANTON — The Van Zandt County Crime Stoppers division is asking for the public’s help in identifying the person who beheaded seven puppies. KETK reports the gruesome discovery was made on October 30 when a person who lived in the area of Farm Road 90 was trying to rescue a great Dane. A sack filled with nine dead puppies was located near the dog. Seven of the animals inside were decapitated.
Because of what’s termed the repulsive nature of the crime, the Crime Stoppers board has authorized a $1,000 reward for anonymous tips about who killed the puppies. “This crime was beyond disgusting,” said Kathy Smith, president of the Van Zandt County Crime Stoppers. “There are animal rescue organizations in this county that would have gladly taken unwanted puppies. These poor animals did not deserve to die such a horrible death.”
The Van Zandt County Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line number is 903-567-STOP (567-7867). Tipsters can also go to http://www.vanzandtcrimestoppers.org to submit information online, from mobile phones or computers. The website has a special tip submission form to fill out.
