EAST TEXAS — Meals on Wheels and Walgreens have announced plans for the 4th annual Walgreens Mobile Flu Shot Drive, set to begin Monday, November 10 and ending Friday, November 21. Volunteer pharmacists from Walgreens will travel to homebound seniors to administer the flu shots directly to Meals on Wheels clients.
“The mobile flu shot campaign has grown each year since it was begun in 2010, and we are thankful for the community minded pharmacists of Walgreens who make this service possible,” said MOWM President and CEO, Mike Powell. “Nutritional support is our primary mission, but anything we can do to promote the overall health and wellness of our clients is a goal here at Meals on Wheels Ministry. Walgreens helps us throughout the year with donation drives, they collect gifts for our holiday gift drive, and they make this campaign possible.” Clients in Tyler and Longview who wish to receive a free flu shot can call Meals on Wheels in Tyler at 903-593-7385.
Meals on Wheels Ministry currently serves over 3,000 seniors and homebound individuals in 30 communities across six counties including Gregg, Henderson, Smith, Upshur, Van Zandt, and Wood counties.
