LONGVIEW — The Pine Tree School Board has denied the appeal of a student who was expelled from the district. According to the Longview News-Journal and KETK, neither trustees nor Longview attorney David Moore, who represented the expelled student, would confirm the student’s identity. Our news partner reports Moore represents Christopher Jones, a PTISD student who is accused of making threats in an online chat room concerning a massacre he would carry out in the Pine Tree High School cafeteria. Moore had originally stated Jones “voluntarily withdrew’ from the school.
According to police, Jones, 17, threatened to initiate a shooting at PTHS. Authorities received information from a tipster in California who stated Jones reportedly made the comments in an online chat room. The threats “included Jones having a plan to enter a cafeteria at a school where he would lock all of the doors allowing ‘no escape,’ and referred to that future moment as the ‘greatest shooting ever.'”
Jones was taken into custody, Monday, September 29, and charged with making a felony “terroristic threat.” During a search of his home, officers found 17 firearms, two swords and a set of brass knuckles. A computer was also taken and is currently being checked for more information.
