Officials: Body Pulled from Lake Is Likely Person Missing since ’87

MARION COUNTY — Officials say remains found in a vehicle pulled from Lake O’ the Pines Friday are likely those of a person who has been missing since 1987. That’s according to KETK and the Longview News-Journal. Texas Department of Public Safety trooper Carlos Wilson said DPS received a call from a fisherman Thursday who said he found the vehicle in the water while fishing near Bullfrog Marina on the north side of the lake. Texas game wardens and the Marion County Dive Team began searching at about 10 a.m. and found the vehicle. A wrecker was able to pull the vehicle from the water.

Wilson said the vehicle was associated with a person who went missing March 16, 1987, but he did not reveal specifics in the case. Wilson also would not say if the remains found in the vehicle were that of a male or female or the race of the victim. The body will be sent for an autopsy. The vehicle is a 1983 Oldmobile Toronado.
