Highway 31 Wreck Victim Identified

KILGORE — The woman who was killed in a wreck on Highway 31 near Kilgore Thursday morning has been identified by Department of Public Safety officials. According to KETK, Trooper Jean Dark says at 10:13 a.m., Charlotte Logsdon, 52, of Overton, was headed south when she drove under a semi’s trailer. The 18-wheeler had crossed two lanes and was waiting to turn left onto 31 when Logsdon’s car hit the semi’s back end, resting in the south lanes.

A preliminary investigation determined the driver of the 18-wheeler, Charlie Birdwell, 31, of Longview, failed to yield the right of way. He was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released. Justice of the Peace Talyna Carlson pronounced Logsdon dead at the scene. Her body was taken to Rader Funeral Home in Kilgore. The crash remains under investigation.
