Officials Warn of Jury Duty Scam

The con involves tricking the victim into paying for a non-existent warrant. According to KETK, the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office released this statement in response to concerned citizen reports:
“The Gregg County Sheriff’s Office has received reports that persons are being contacted by phone and told that they need to provide credit card information in order to pay for a warrant for not attending jury duty. This is a scam that is occurring in Texas and in other states. No one with Gregg County or any other agency will solicit credit card information over the phone to pay for a warrant.”
