SCSO Seeks Burglary Suspect

TYLER — Smith County Sheriff’s Office detectives are requesting help in locating a suspect in a residential burglary. The suspect is identified as Aaron Bowers, 41, of Tyler. Bowers was released from Smith County Jail at approximately 7:05 p.m. on Thursday after serving time on a criminal trespassing charge. At approximately 1:48 a.m. on Friday, Smith County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch received a call regarding a burglary of a mobile home located in the 12800 block of Highway 31 West in the western part of Smith County.
Patrol deputies responded to the call and took the victim’s statement. The homeowner said she returned home to find the suspect fleeing her residence with various household items and running into the woods behind her home. The homeowner said she recognized Bowers, as he has frequently been in the neighborhood due to his having relatives living nearby.
