Patients Attend Cancer Center’s 20th Anniversary

Posted/updated on: August 17, 2014 at 5:24 pm

TYLER — Texas Oncology-Tyler celebrated its 20th anniversary Friday by inviting all current and former patients to stop by the cancer center at 910 E. Houston, Suite 100, and ring the cancer survivor’s bell. The bell ringing tradition was started at Texas Oncology-Tyler in the 1990’s as a celebration of a cancer patient’s completion of treatment. Many other cancer programs have since adopted the tradition.

“Since we opened in 1994, Texas Oncology-Tyler has grown from four physicians and a handful of support staff, to eight physicians and almost 100 team members,” said Billy O’Barr, practice director, Texas Oncology-Tyler. “During the last two decades, thousands of patients have come through our doors and benefited from the care and technology here. We appreciate all of our patients and their families who came by to help us celebrate this special day.”
