Officials: UT Tyler Housing Provides Unique Living Communities

Posted/updated on: August 10, 2014 at 7:48 am

thumb_uttylerTYLER — The University of Texas at Tyler offers exceptional on-campus living environments for students, according to Dr. Howard Patterson, vice president for student affairs. UT Tyler is home to more than 1,400 resident students who live in Ornelas Hall, Patriot Village, Eagle’s Landing, and University Pines. And according to a UT Tyler news release, UTT students recognize the outstanding service and quality that is provided through consistent exit survey results. “We are very proud of the positive response from our residents,” said David Hill, director of residence life and judicial affairs. “It’s such a compliment to our staff when they return year after year.”

Located on campus, all four housing facilities are a few minutes’ walk from classes, the UT Tyler Robert R. Muntz Library, University Center, and recreational facilities. Each housing facility offers first-class living arrangements, and all four communities also have Wi-Fi available throughout the buildings, according to the release. “We now have enough on-campus facilities to reach a variety of students,” Hill added. “No matter where you are in your college career, we have a place to suit your needs.”

Officials say the department also employs highly qualified students as resident assistants. RAs are the leaders of their communities and help to foster an atmosphere of healthy living and learning on campus, according to the news release. RAs collaborate with UT Tyler faculty and staff to increase awareness of university policy. University officials say UT Tyler campus police also provide a strong presence at all communities day and night.

Students interested in living on campus may find the housing application online at http://www.uttyler.edu/housing/housingapplication.php and send by email, mail, or fax. Move-in day for Ornelas Hall and Patriot Village is Thursday, Aug. 21. Fall 2014 classes start Monday, Aug. 25.
