Loan Ranger Bandit Suspect Arrested

BENTON, Ark. — The infamous alleged criminal known as the “Loan Ranger Bandit” has been arrested by Arkansas State Troopers. KETK reports the suspect now identified as Richard Swicegood, 37, of Waxahachie, was arrested during a traffic stop Tuesday while driving a Ford Mustang with Texas license plates after he had reportedly just robbed the Summit Bank in Benton, Arkansas. He is also connected to two other robberies from 2009 and 2011 at that same bank.
Swicegood has been charged with 11 counts of aggravated robbery, three counts of theft of property and one count of unauthorized use of another person’s property to facilitate a crime. F.B.I. officials say they have confirmed that Swicegood is responsible for numerous bank robberies in multiple states that include two in Tyler. In Tyler he allegedly robbed the Altra Federal Credit Union at 5523 Troup Hwy. on August 11, 2011, and the Compass Bank at 6910 S. Broadway on May 17, 2012. Swicegood is also connected to other robberies across the state including the following:
Lampasas, Texas – November 2013
Wichita Falls, Texas – July 2011
Temple, Texas – October 201
Round Rock, Texas – January 2012
Salado, Texas – July 2012
College Station, Texas – August 2012
Madison, Mississippi – October 2012
This is an ongoing investigation and other charges could be forthcoming in the future.
