TYLER — Here’s a quick look at events and work planned in the Tyler District of the Texas Department of Transportation:
SMITH COUNTY – Beginning last night, Texas Department of Transportation contract construction crews began several weeks of repair and resurfacing work on U.S. Highway 69 (Broadway Avenue) in Tyler between Fourth Street (State Highway 64) and South Loop 323. The work will largely be done during off-peak hours between 7:00pm to 5:00am Sundays-Thursdays until the project is complete.
Also this week, TxDOT maintenance crews on Monday are scheduled to make base and pavement repairs on the eastbound Interstate Highway 20 off-ramp for Toll 49, then move on Tuesday to make similar repairs on Farm Road 15 near the intersection of State Highway 135 in Troup.
A second crew is scheduled to perform shoulder work on Farm Road 346 between U.S. Highway 69 and Farm Road 756.
Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress. Motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.
GREGG COUNTY – Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to make base and pavement repairs on Farm Road 1844 between State Highway 300 and Spur 502 north of Longview. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zones.
Looking ahead to the week of July 7, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to begin approximately three weeks of base and pavement repairs on U.S. Highway 80 between Loop 485 in Gladewater and the Upshur County Line, followed by similar work in U.S. Highway 271 in Gladewater.
VAN ZANDT COUNTY – Weather permitting, Texas Department of Transportation contract crews are scheduled to continue seal coat operations this week on the following roadways:
*FM 47 between US 80 and I-20; and
*US 80 between the Kaufman County Line and FM 2965 in Wills Point.
TxDOT’s seal coat program seals nearly 300 centerline miles of roadway across the eight-county Tyler District each summer, extending the maintenance-free service life of those roadways by as much as 10 years or more. Local TxDOT crews have been preparing sections of these roadways over the past year in preparation for sealing.
Meanwhile, TxDOT maintenance crews on Monday and Tuesday this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on State Highway 19 in Canton between Interstate Highway 20 and State Highway 64.
Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid long delays associated with seal coat work.
WOOD COUNTY – Weather permitting, Texas Department of Transportation contract crews are scheduled to begin seal coat operations this week on the following roadways:
*FM 17 between SH 154 in Yantis and FM 515;
*FM 514 between the Rains County Line and FM 17 near Yantis; and
*US 80 between Loop 564 in Mineola and FM 778 in Crow
Meanwhile, TxDOT maintenance crews this week are scheduled to begin pavement repairs on U.S. Highway 69 between the Rains County Line and Farm Road 1799. A second crew is scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on U.S. Highway 80 east of Mineola near Farm Road 3056.
