TYLER — Here’s a quick look at work planned in East Texas by the Tyler District of the Texas Department of Transportation.
TYLER — Construction crews are scheduled to begin several weeks of repair and resurfacing work on U.S. Highway 69 (Broadway Avenue) in Tyler between Fourth Street (SH 64) and South Loop 323. The work will largely be done during off-peak hours between 7:00pm to 5:00am Sundays-Thursdays until the project is complete.
Then beginning today, TxDOT maintenance crews are scheduled to make several days of base and pavement repairs on South Loop 323 between South Broadway Avenue and Paluxy Drive, beginning with the eastbound lanes. Traffic will be reduced to one lane in and around the work area, so motorists are strongly encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid lengthy delays.
CHEROKEE COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation contract crews on Monday are scheduled to begin seal coat operations on the following roadways:
*State Highway 204 between Loop 456 in Jacksonville and State Highway 110 in Ponta;
*Loop 456 between U.S. Highway 69 South and State Highway 204
TxDOT’s seal coat program seals nearly 300 centerline miles of roadway each summer, extending the maintenance-free service life of those roadways by as much as 10 years or more. Local TxDOT crews have been preparing sections of these roadways over the past year in preparation for sealing.
Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible to avoid long delays associated with the work.
Also this week, construction crews are scheduled to begin work to add left and right-turn lanes to SW Loop 456 in Jacksonville in front of Nichols Elementary School, as well as additional turn lanes between FM 347 and US 69 south. The work is scheduled for completion by the time school resumes in the fall.
WOOD COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue resurfacing operations on Farm Road 17 between State Highway 154 in Yantis and Farm Road 515. A second crew is scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on U.S. Highway 80 between Mineola and Crow.
Then, as early as Wednesday in Quitman, construction crews are scheduled to begin work on the shoulders in the curb-and-gutter section of State Highway 154 between State Highway 37 on the square and Dry Creek Bridge. Thru-traffic will not be strongly affected while the work is in progress, but this work will cause parking to be restricted on the south side of the Wood County Courthouse, and for other buildings along that stretch while underway.
GREGG COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on the U.S. Highway 259 Kilgore Bypass between Farm Road 349 east of Kilgore and the south end of the Bypass. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.
CANTON — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue making base and pavement repairs on State Highway 19 between Interstate Highway 20 and State Highway 64. Once that work is complete, construction crews are scheduled to resurface the entire section of roadway between IH 20 and State Highway 64. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and motorists are encouraged to be prepared to reduce speed and merge in and around the work zone.
ANDERSON COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue base and pavement repairs on State Highway 294 between Farm Road 323 and Farm Road 228 near the Cherokee County Line. Daytime lane closures will be in effect in each location while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.
RUSK COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to continue resurfacing operations on Farm Road 95 between Farm Road 1798 in Minden and U.S. Highway 84 east of Mount Enterprise. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress and flaggers will control traffic.
HENDERSON COUNTY — Texas Department of Transportation maintenance crews this week are scheduled to perform edge and shoulder work on U.S. Highway 175 between Farm Road 607 east of Athens and Farm Road 315 in Poynor. Daytime lane closures will be in effect while the work is in progress, and flaggers will control traffic.
