Former Longtime Gregg County Judge Dies

LONGVIEW — Former longtime Gregg County Judge Henry Atkinson has died. County Judge Bill Stoudt reported the news Thursday morning and confirmed it to our news partner KETK Thursday afternoon. Although funeral arrangements are pending, Stoudt said he will order county flags lowered to half-staff for the judge’s services. Atkinson served as Gregg County judge from 1967 to 1990 and succeeded R. E. “Peppy” Blount while preceding Kenneth Walker.
