Local Law Enforcement Agencies Remember Fallen Officers

TYLER — The annual Smith County Peace Officer Memorial Service was held Thursday on Tyler’s downtown square. Several area law enforcement agencies gathered to honor officers who died in the line of duty. Tyler officer Don Martin says he was very pleased with the turnout — and that it’s important to hold the event each year. According to Martin, “We want to let the families know, and the law enforcement community, that we never forget the fallen officers. They paid the ultimate sacrifice. A lot of these officers die at a young age.”
