Bass Reflects on Six Years as Mayor

TYLER — Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass is leaving office after serving the maximum three two-year terms. She is the city’s first female mayor, elected in May of 2008. She’s been very active in the community since moving to Tyler in the 70s. Bass told KETK, “It has just been a tremendous place to live, to get engaged. You meet the other people who care about Tyler that are out there trying to do the same thing — and it’s just been a fabulous journey.” Mayor-elect Martin Heines will be sworn in March 21st.
