TYLER — The Tyler City Council Wednesday authorized a construction contract with Reynolds & Kay, Limited for the 2014 Asphalt Enhancement Program as well as the 2014 Seal Coat Program. “The pavement in the City of Tyler is one of our largest assets and it is important that we make every effort to maintain it through seal coats and overlays,” said City Engineer Carter Delleney.
City officials say based on pavement ratings, a list of streets in need of asphalt enhancement were identified and were put out to bid. Bids were received for the 2014 Asphalt Enhancement Program on March 25. All streets that have curb and gutter will be edge milled prior to the overlay to provide a smooth transition into the pan of the gutter, according to a city news release. Officials say construction will begin in May and should be completed in October, 2014.
Also, based on pavement ratings, a list of streets in need of a seal coat were identified and put out to bid. Bids were also received for the 2014 Seal Coat Program on March 25. This project will begin in May and should be completed before Aug. 15, according to the release.
