Fatally Shot Teen Identified

GILMER — The Upshur County Sheriff’s Office is investigating what’s termed the suspicious death of a local teenager after the teen’s body was found in a car, and the youth has been identified. KETK reports officials responded to a call Sunday around 9:43 p.m. in Diana. When deputies arrived they found Jacob Johnson, 17, dead from a gunshot wound. Debbie Cobb, secretary to the superintendent of the New Diana Independent School District, says Johnson had withdrawn from school in October 2013. Authorities say they are investigating the incident as a homicide.
