CEO of Longview Business Dead in Florida Plane Crash

LONGVIEW — The president and CEO of an East Texas business died in a plane crash that occurred Friday morning near a Lowe’s store in northeast Florida. KETK reports the pilot, Richard Carrera, 73, was trying to gain altitude after a touch-and-go landing near the airport, but the plane’s engine stalled. Carrera and his passenger, Malcolm Clevenstine, 71, were both taken to a local hospital. Clevenstine was president and CEO of Warfab in Longview. He died Friday night. Carrera is listed in good condition.
