LONGVIEW — Gregg County Sheriff Maxey Cerliano says law officers have arrested a federal fugitive from Tyler for possession of a controlled substance and felon in possession of a firearm. Authorities say at about 3:00 Thursday morning, Gregg County deputies observed a black Ford truck traveling on Tryon Road with expired registration. When the deputies stopped the vehicle, the driver, 44-year-old Larry Shane Sillick of Tyler, was found to have an outstanding federal warrant for violation of probation. Officials say upon exiting the truck, Sillick dropped a purple-colored bag and stepped on it in an attempt to conceal it from deputies. Deputies found that the bag contained four baggies of suspected crystalline methamphetamine, later found to have a total weight of 7.8 grams. A search of the truck revealed a Ruger 9mm handgun in the console, according to officials.
Sillick was transported to the Gregg County Jail for the outstanding warrant and possession of a controlled substance, penalty group 1, greater than or equal to 4 grams but less than 200 grams. Because of a previous felony conviction, Sillick was also charged with felon in possession of a firearm. Sillick is being held without bond.
