Some Gregg County Prisoners Sickened by Synthetic Marijuana

LONGVIEW — Gregg County authorities are trying to determine how synthetic marijuana was smuggled in the Gregg County Jail. Five inmates had to be briefly hospitalized because of the substance. Gregg County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Kirk Haddix said four inmates were treated and released from a local hospital, while one had to stay overnight. Investigators believe the substance was handed out by an inmate and not by a jail employee. The suspect has not been identified and the investigation continues.
