Awards Handed Out at Tyler Police Banquet

TYLER — He’s “highly respected and displays the utmost professionalism in the image he projects for the Tyler Police Department.” That’s why Officer Charles “Chuck” Boyce was named Officer of the Year at Friday evening’s Tyler Police Department Annual Awards Banquet. Numerous honors were handed out at the event, held at the UT Tyler Ornelas Activity Center.

Here’s a rundown of other awards:

Volunteer of the Year – Robbie Campbell
Civilian Employee of the Year – Lisa Evans
Civilian Supervisor of the Year – Marissa Pittman
Rookie Officer of the Year – Melinda Melara
Unit of the Year – Patrol Division
Plainclothes Officer of the Year – Investigator Damon Swan
Sworn Supervisor of the Year – Sergeant Mike Saxion

Certificate of Merit – Officers Gregory Harry, Larry Christian, Dan Forbey, Darrell Gardner, Chris Moore, and Scott Behrend, and Sgt. Mike Malone
Police Commendation – Officer Josh Hill
Meritorious Conduct Award – Detectives Royce Jordan, David Cook, and Jeff Roberts
Citizen Certificate of Merit – Clarence Harris, Charles Williams, Tom Curtis
