Man Sentenced in Tyler for Drug Violation

TYLER — A Tyler jury has sentenced a Louisiana man to prison and fined him following his conviction of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance. Officials say he was found in possession of over a pound of methamphetamine by a DPS trooper. A jury in the 114th State District Court had earlier convicted Joseph Pierce, 35, of Greenwell Springs, Louisiana. After deliberating Wednesday afternoon, Pierce was sentenced to 70 years in state prison. He was also fined $250,000.
