LINDEN — Good Shepherd Health System is announcing it is closing a Northeast Texas Hospital and two clinics. Closing on April 30th is the 25 bed Good Shepherd Medical Center – Linden, and Good Shepherd Medical Associated Family Health Centers in Linden and Hughes Springs. According to a news release from the hospital system, the closings are the results of Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement cuts to hospitals, a pending loss of the Critical Access Hospital status, a cut in Medicare reimbursements from the federal sequester and low patient usage. Around 100 jobs will be lost as a result of the closures.
