BRYAN (Staff/AP) — Aggie defensive lineman Isaiah Demarcus Golden, a former Carthage star, has been arrested after allegedly being found in possession of marijuana. According to KETK, Bryan Police say an officer was on patrol Saturday in the 3600 block of Wellborn Road in Bryan when he reached the Reveille Ranch Apartment Complex. While walking through the complex, the officer came near a building and heard a man yelling on the other side of the building. When authorities got closer, they found a silver two-door Infinity sports car with its lights on. The officer made contact with the four men in the vehicle and reported that he smelled a strong odor.
Other officers arrived on scene, and identified Isaiah Golden as the driver of the vehicle. Others found in the vehicle were Darian Wayne Claiborne, 19, Davante Lorenzo Noil, 18, and Clifford Roberto Niles, 20. Golden stepped out of the car, and officers found a small Swisher Sweet package on the ground just outside the driver’s door. The package appeared to have something inside but was sealed closed, according to police. Authorities opened the package and reportedly found hydroponic marijuana. Police say Golden admitted ownership of the marijuana, was handcuffed and searched, and then taken to jail.
Golden has been charged with possession of marijuana. He is currently free on a $2,000 bond. At Carthage High School, Golden was named a U.S. Army All-American. School spokesman Alan Cannon tells The Eagle of Bryan-College Station he wasn’t aware of the arrest but says it’s school policy to immediately suspend a student-athlete after an arrest pending further investigation.
