Marshall Doctor Disciplined by Texas Medical Board

AUSTIN — A gastroenterologist at Good Shepherd Medical Center in Marshall has been disciplined by the Texas Medical board for unprofessional conduct in the workplace. That’s according to our news partner KETK. At its February 7 meeting, the board disciplined Dr. William Gibson “Bill” Simpson, 53, of Marshall. The board found Simpson violated professional boundaries with a female patient and admitted to having a sexual relationship with the patient.

The board and Simpson entered into an agreed order requiring him to, within one year, complete the professional boundaries course offered by the University of California San Diego Physician Assessment and Clinical Education program. He also has three attempts within one year to pass the Medical Jurisprudence Exam. Simpson was additionally ordered to pay an administrative penalty of $3,000 within 60 days. 41 other doctors from around the state were disciplined at the meeting as well.
