ETMC Tyler Reports Second Flu Death

TYLER — East Texas Medical Center-Tyler has reported its second flu death of the season. KETK reports that brings the Tyler total to three this season, including one at Mother Frances. The most recent death came this past week, according to numbers released by ETMC Monday. Another patient died there the week of December 30. ETMC Tyler lists a total of over 220 flu patients this season. Health officials continue to tell residents that the best preventive measure against the disease is a flu shot.
Here’s a rundown of flu numbers for ETMC Tyler, which includes ETMC S. Broadway ER.
Week of Dec. 8: 20 patients came back positive with flu
Week of Dec. 15: 46 positive for flu
Week of Dec. 22: 59 positive for flu and one tested positive for
H1N1.
Week of Dec. 30: 42 positive for flu and one death.
Week of Jan. 5: 28 tested positive for flu A
Week of Jan. 12: 22 positive for flu A, 4 patients in the hospital
with flu
Week of Jan. 19: 9 positive for flu A, 1 positive for Flu B, one flu
death, 2 patients in the hospital with flu.
