Azleway Charter School Appeals Revocation Move

SMITH COUNTY — A Smith County school is appealing the state’s decision to revoke its charter. Just last month, the Texas commissioner of education told Azleway Charter School that Texas would no longer recognize the school starting June 30. According to KETK, state officials say Azleway and five other schools “failed to meet academic or financial accountability performance.” But next month, Azleway officials get the chance to change their minds. They’ll have a closed hearing with the Texas Education Agency where a judge will make the final decision.
