TYLER – Tyler ISD BOND 2013 construction projects are swiftly moving from conception to reality, according to a TISD news release. The bond package passed by voters in May 2013 will add what’s termed a state-of-the-art Career and Technical Education (CTE) Center at the corner of Earl Campbell Parkway and Bennett Avenue, new Moore MST Magnet School and Boulter Middle School campuses at their existing locations, a new middle school in the Three Lakes area, and renovations and additions to Dixie and Rice elementary campuses.
The CTE Center has seen the most production at this point with all underground plumbing and utilities nearing completion, according to school officials. Additionally, more than 2,000 yards of concrete have already been poured forming a road, parking lot, and one building foundation. This month, the district will issue designs for bid for Moore and Boulter and has set a bid date of January 23 for the Three Lakes campus. Over the holiday break, 23 portable buildings were relocated and/or removed from the Moore, Boulter, Dixie, and Rice campuses. Lastly, power services have been relocated and building pads constructed at Dixie and Rice to prepare for the renovations.
“It is always exciting to see construction projects evolve,” Tyler ISD Superintendent Gary Mooring said. “Seeing these projects take shape serves as a reminder of the community’s dedication to providing the best education possible for our students.”
Every month, the District’s construction project manager, Monte Robinett, provides construction updates to the Tyler ISD Board of Trustees during regularly scheduled board meetings, which are held on the third Thursday of the month at the Plyler Instructional Complex.
