At Least 9 Hurt in East Texas School Bus Collision

ATHENS (AP) – Nine elementary school students have been treated and released from the hospital after a school bus struck another from behind in Athens. A spokeswoman at East Texas Medical Center Athens says all of the children ranged in age from 5 to 10. The accident yesterday afternoon involved buses containing about 70 Athens elementary school students. Hospital spokeswoman Rebecca Berkley says nine students were brought to the hospital by ambulance with injuries ranging from fractures to bumps and bruises. Sixty other children arrived by bus for precautionary examination.
