Christmas Activities Postponed, Canceled around the Area

EAST TEXAS — More communities have announced cancellations and postponements of Christmas-related activities. KETK reports those include several parades. The City of Lindale parade has been canceled and will be re-scheduled at a later date. The City of Jacksonville has postponed its parade until Thursday, December 12.

Here’s a list of other schedule changes:

* Palestine Lighted Christmas Parade – rescheduled for Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. Visit http://www.VisitPalestine.com for a full schedule of holiday events.
* Edom Christmas Tree Ceremony – Postponed until Saturday, December 14.
* 10th Annual Christmas in the Park at The Children’s Park (Tyler) – Canceled, will not be rescheduled.
* City of Rusk Christmas Parade – Postponed until Saturday, December 14, at 10:00 a.m.
* Quitman Christmas Parade – Postponed until Saturday, Dec. 14th at 4:00 p.m

The Jaycees Christmas Parade and the tree lighting ceremony on the square in downtown Tyler will now be held Tuesday, December 10. The tree will be lit by one-year-old Micah Emory Read, who was named the 2013 Miracle Child, representing the Children’s Miracle Network at Trinity Mother Frances Health System. The City of Henderson’s Christmas parade has been postponed until Monday, December 9, at 6:30 p.m. In Whitehouse, the parade is postponed until Saturday, December 14, at 5:00 p.m.
