Firefighters Urge Space Heater Safety

TYLER — Dropping temperatures this fall mean many of us turn to space heaters for comfort. But according to KETK, all too often we’ve seen destruction, even death they leave behind when used incorrectly. Tyler firefighters say the supreme commandment when it comes to space heaters is never leave one unattended. But this time of year, the people who answer the call for help guarantee space heaters will be the culprit behind many calls to house fires. Firefighters point out that the devices are not designed to heat entire homes, but that’s what they see them used for. Firefighters remind users that space heaters should only be on for a short period of time.
