Sulphur Springs Vies for Best Restroom Honors

SULPHUR SPRINGS — An East Texas city is hoping to be number one in an unusual category. The contest is all about naming the best public restroom in the country, and Sulphur Springs has one of the 10 finalists. It’s the public restroom on the town square, constructed using one-way mirrors. In other words, as City Manager Marc Maxwell says, it’s “just like… you would expect to see in a police interrogation room, you can see out, but nobody else can see in.” The restrooms were built last year as part of the downtown revitalization plan and are open 7 days a week.
