TYLER — As of Thursday, September 19, anyone going to the City of Tyler’s website — http://www.CityofTyler.org — via a mobile phone will automatically be redirected to the new mobile adaptation of the site. According to a news release, The mobile website is a streamlined version of the full Tyler website and makes accessing the most commonly sought after pages even easier.
Visitors to the mobile site can:
• Access the latest City news and upcoming events;
• Access the City’s online forum and social network sites;
• Download and view recent City publications and videos;
• View the City Departments directory and either call, send an e-mail or obtain driving directions to the department;
• Report matters such as graffiti, street and traffic, and parks issues;
• Send photos from a camera phone to report an issue;
• Search the Library catalog;
• See the latest job openings;
• Access the latest City Council and Boards and Commissions agendas;
• Pay water bills or traffic citations;
• Look up building permits;
• Search City ordinances; and
• Search City maps.
However, there is a link at the bottom of the page for viewers who prefer to view the full webpage.
“This should help our citizens access City information with greater ease and transparency,” said Tyler Mayor Barbara Bass. “It’s much easier to see this mobile version on the smaller cell phone screen and navigating it is relatively simple.” To add a link to the mobile site to your iPhone home screen, go to the site, then push the icon on the bottom of the screen with an arrow coming out of a box, and select “Add to Home Screen.”
