TYLER — Builders are moving forward with a big new shopping center on far South Broadway in Tyler, to be called the Village at Cumberland Park. KETK reports it’ll include a movie theater, bowling alley, restaurants, and more — about 100 venues in all. And right across the street, the city will be building a hotel and convention center, which is expected to take about three years to construct. Mayor Barbara Bass is upbeat about the project. She hopes all this will mean overnight guests for eating and shopping. Bass says the hotel project will begin next summer, and the shops are being built right now.
