Fourth Suspect Arrested in Park Shooting

TYLER — Tyler Police say the fourth suspect in the fatal P.T. Cole Park shooting has been arrested, but not without some tense moments that culminated in the shooting of a dog. On September 5, the Tyler Police Department received information that Elisha “EJ” Williams, 18, was at 606 South Fenton in Tyler. Surveillance of the residence was conducted. Once information confirmed that Williams was in the residence, officers with the Tyler Police Department attempted to serve the warrant.

Officials say two females came out of the residence and a pit bull followed the second one outside. Officers ordered them to put the dog back in the house, but police say the orders were ignored. The dog then aggressively went towards officers, according to a police statement. Fearing for their safety and the safety of others at the scene, officers shot the dog. Police say Williams then voluntarily came out of the residence and was arrested. He was transported to the Smith County jail and is being held on a $1,000.000 bond. Police believe he was involved in the shooting death of Bri’ana Raquel Young on July 30. Officials say Young was apparently caught in gang crossfire. The three other suspects remain in custody.
