Football Player Injured in Athens Accident

ATHENS — A Trinity Valley Community College football player has been injured when hit by a truck while crossing the street. Ugonna Nwarie, 19, was using a crosswalk Wednesday morning around 7:45 when hit by the truck which failed to yield the right of way. The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk. Nwarie was taken to East Texas Medical Center Athens for treatment of a broken leg.
