Name of Man Found in Burned Truck Released

LUFKIN — The name of the man found in a burned truck in Lufkin has been officially identified. DNA testing has confired that Efren Mora Elizondo, 47, of Lufkin, the vehicle owner, was the victim of the August 14 murder and vehicle fire.
Lufkin Police and fire crews received the report of a burning vehicle behind First Church of the Nazarene, located at 1604 South Medford Drive in Lufkin. Responding officers saw a burned body in the remains of the vehicle. The body was too burned for the officers to immediately determine its identity or verify the gender.
Two people have been arrested and authorities are seeking a third suspect. Kristine Maldonado Garcia was arrested by the St. Landry Parish Sheriff’s Office about 70 miles west of Baton Rouge, La. She was being held on a murder warrant pending extradition. Daniel Andres Muniz, Winnie, was arrested in Anahuac on a charge of tampering with evidence. Muniz was held without bond in the Chambers County jail. Police are seeking 22-year-old Miguel Monsivais, Lufkin, on a murder warrant.
